Home Noninvasive Ventilation Following Acute Exacerbations of COPD: Results from the HOT HMV Trial

The purpose of this educational activity is to understand the background clinical trial data that led to the development of the HOT-HMV (home oxygen therapy and home mechanical ventilation) trial. The activity will focus on the rationale for the trial design of the HOT-HMV trial in particular phenotyping patients to detect chronic respiratory failure as a treatable characteristic following an acute exacerbation of COPD. The results of the HOT-HMV trial will be discussed to elucidate management strategies for patients following acute excarbations of COPD requiring NIV (non-invasive ventilation).
This activity is intended for medical professional who have a clinical interest in the management of patients with COPD as seen by the following medical specialists: Pulmonologists, Pneumologists, Respirologists, Respiratory Physiotherapists, Respiratory Therapists (Hospital, Home), Thoracic Surgeons, Home Healthcare Providers, Critical Care Medicine Specialists, Internal Medicine Specialists, Primary Care Physicians (General and Family Practitioners), Advanced Practice Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Physicians Assistants, Managed Care Medical Directors, and other Practitioners and Payers.
